Tempo, bus collide: Six killed

Police have identified the dead as Nanjappa (65), Lakshamma (55), Ratnamma (40), Lakshmidevamma (52), Shivakumar (42) and Kempamma (58) of Tavarekere village in Turuvekere taluk.

Nanjappa’s family were on their way to Shivagange pilgrim centre in a tempo when the accident happened.

Drivers absconding

Tempo driver in an attempt to overtake the lorry collided with the KSRTC bus. Nanjappa, Lakshamma, Ratnamma, Lakshmidevamma were killed on the spot, while the grievously injured Shivkumar and Kempamma succumbed to injuries.

Drivers of both the tempo and KSRTC bus are absconding.
