Three men get life imprisonment for murder

In connection with the murder over a silly reason, three men-Puneeth, Sriharsha and Sunil-- have been sentenced to life imprisonment and a Rs 10,000 each fine by the Fourth District and Sessions Court judge B N Lavanyalata, in Madhugiri on Tuesday.    

Puneeth had gotten into a brawl at the Vijay Bar and Restaurant in Irakasandra Colony, Koratagere taluk, on April 1, 2017 at about 8 pm.

Hanumantharaju, Nagesh, Y N Puneeth and Gaare Narasimhappa were having drinks, when Puneeth verbally abused Nagesh using foul language; and Hanumantharaju intervened and slapped him to make him stop.  

Enraged by this, Puneeth blocked Hanumantharaju's path at 11.20 pm  and stabbed him in the abdomen with a knife, killing him.

Sriharsha, Rakesh, Sunil, Siddaraju, Siddaramaiah and Shivaprasad were with Puneeth when the incident occurred. Sriharsha assisted Puneeth in the murder.  

Koratagere police had arrested the accused and charge-sheeted them. Advocate S K Narayana Swamy argued on behalf of the State.
