The BJP will launch the 'Nava Bengaluru-Nava Bharatha' (New Bengaluru for New India) initiative by organising competitions for college students to help address and find solutions to the issues plaguing the state capital ahead of the Assembly election.

BJP state general secretary Aravind Limbavali told reporters on Thursday that a series of competitions will be held for students to present their solutions on various pressing issues such as easing the traffic mess in the city, rejuvenating the dying lakes, making Bengaluru a safe city for women, eliminating poverty by empowering the poor, adequate and affordable water supply for all, and bringing back law and order to the city, among others.

The winners will get cash prizes and an opportunity to present their ideas to the top BJP leadership later this month.

According to Limbavali, the winners will also get a chance to interact with Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

College fests

The idea-presentation competitions will be supplemented with seven college festivals across Bengaluru. These festivals will be held between March 20 and 23 in select colleges in KR Puram, Basavanagudi, Nagarbhavi, Marathahalli, Yelahanka and Jayanagar areas. Essay writing, debates, mad ads, and poster-making competitions will be conducted.

The BJP also launched a website - www.newbengaluru.in - elaborating on the details about the initiative.
