Deadline to link PAN with Aadhaar extended to June 30

The government on Tuesday extended the deadline to link individuals' Permanent Account Number (PAN) with their Aadhaar to June 30 from March 31.

The Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT) issued an order to this effect after the Supreme Court earlier this month had extended indefinitely the deadline for linking Aadhaar with various services.

The deadline for PAN-Aadhaar linking for filing I-T returns is being extended after consideration of the matter, the CBDT order said. The order came four days ahead of the income tax return filing deadline, March 31.

This is the fourth time the government has extended the deadline for linking PAN with Aadhaar. Earlier, the dates were extended to August 31, December 31 and March 31.
