Minister M C Mohanakumari and MLA Puttarangashetty, who were participating in a programme, had to return without addressing the gathering, after being informed about the announcement of election dates. However, they returned in the official vehicle, despite model code of conduct in place.

Both the MLA and the minister were participating in the groundbreaking ceremony for a new government hospital, at the Government Medical College premises, here. Puttarangashetty, who was addressing the gathering stopped the speech when one of the supporters informed about the poll code of conduct. However, they returned in the government vehicle, which is a violation.

The elected representatives also stayed away from the inauguration of ZP president and vice president's chambers and Women's Day programme, that was scheduled on Tuesday.

Kollegal programme

More than 250 people had to return disappointed after the feast, organised as part of the birthday celebrations of a JD(S) leader was cancelled, due to the model code of conduct in place in Kollegal on Tuesday.

As soon as the model code was implemented, tahsildar Mohan visited the spot.

However, the organisers, who were informed about his visit, shifted the food to another place. More than 250 people, who had gathered for the non-vegetarian feast, returned without food.
