A father-daughter duo was injured in a fresh ceasefire violation by Pakistan along the Line of Control (LoC) in Rajouri district of Jammu and Kashmir on Wednesday night.

Reports said Bola Ram and his daughter Sangeeta suffered splinter injures after a 120mm mortar shell exploded in their house's compound in a forward area of Rajouri district.

The injured were immediately shifted to a hospital, where their condition is stated to be stable.

The Pakistan Army has been violating ceasefire along the LoC and international border (IB) in Jammu and Kashmir frequently.

Since the third week of January, 27 people, including 13 security personnel, and 14 civilians, have been killed in Pakistani ceasefire violations along the LoC and the IB in Jammu.

On March 18, in one of the worst ceasefire violations in recent years, five members of a family, including minors, were killed, while two others were injured in Pakistani shelling at Balakote sector along the LoC in Poonch district.

On Tuesday, an army man was killed, while four others, including a lieutenant, and JCOs, were injured as Pakistani troops fired mortar bombs at forward posts in Krishna Ghati sector along the LoC in Poonch.

In February, four army personnel, including a 22-year-old captain, were killed in Pakistani shelling along the LoC in Poonch and Rajouri districts.

The Indian and Pakistani armies had agreed to a ceasefire along the LoC, the international border (IB) and along Actual Ground Position Line at Siachen glacier in November 2003.

Although it held good for 10 years, in the last few years, Pakistani troops have violated the ceasefire agreement hundreds of times.

Meanwhile, the Jammu and Kashmir government will build 14,000 bunkers in five border districts to safeguard residents from Pakistani shelling.

The Ministry of Home Affairs has allocated Rs. 416 crore for the project, which will be executed by National Buildings Construction Corporation.
