Last Updated 10 April 2018, 15:24 IST

Mysuru's Yashas Chandra fired a fine four-under 68 to set the pace in the IGU Rotary Karnataka Amateur Golf Championship here at the Eagleton Golf Resort on Tuesday.

The trio of Rohan Dhole Patil, Pukhraj Singh Gill and Kanishka Sinha M shared the second spot at 70 while another triumvirate of Anirudh K, Jairaj Singh Sandhu and Aditya Chahal shared the fifth spot at 71.

Yashas made a bright beginning to his campaign, firing a birdie on the very first hole. He followed it with a birdie on the third hole, then sunk his third on the sixth hole before rolling in another on the eighth to take the turn at four-under.

Things then started to get bad for the Mysurean as he dropped shots on the 10th and 13th holes. Yashas, however, hit back strongly, rattling in birdies on the 15th and 16th holes to take the clubhouse lead.

The Karnataka Ladies & Junior Girls Golf Championship kicks off on Wednesday.

Leading scores (after 18 holes): 68: Yashas Chandra; 70: Rohan Dhole Patil, Pukhraj Singh Gill, Kanishka Sinha M; 71: Anirudh K, Jairaj Singh Sandhu, Aditya Chahal.
