Last Updated 12 April 2018, 12:34 IST

Members of the Banks, Gramin Banks, LIC Temporary Employees Joint Action Committee staged a protest in front of the Union Labour Department assistant commissioner's office at Bhavani Nagar in the City on Tuesday.

Temporary employees in banks and LIC are deprived of facilities they deserve, and action should be taken against those who are responsible for this injustice, they said. Regularisation of service and facilities like PF and pension were also their demands.

Temporary employees are not getting minimum wages, their service is not being regularised, and they are deprived of facilities like PF. Through contractors, temporary employees are being used for the works in regular posts that are vacant. Many complaints have been lodged about the exploitation of temporary employees in banks and other institutions, but the Labour Department officials have failed in attending to them properly, protesters said.

They also submitted a memorandum to Union Minister of State for Labour & Employment Santosh Kumar Gangwar, through the officials.
