German automobile behemoth Audi plans to roll out three electric vehicles by 2020 globally, with the head of its Indian subsidiary stating that one of those models could arrive in India as well.

Audi has been working on EV concepts, at least since the dawn of electric cars, having showcased its e-Tron concept. Now, it is to be seen as to what EV models or platforms the carmaker would bring to the market.

"We do believe in EVs as a company. By 2020, we plan to launch three EVs globally. By 2025, we hope to see EVs making up at least 30% of all our cars sold," Audi India Head Rahul Ansari said, here on Wednesday.

"We are looking at bringing one EV model to India too," he hinted, however, depending on the market and policy environment in the country.

Ansari also did not divulge about what the said EV models would be, or the exact timeline of their launch.

The government has been supportive of EVs, even having earlier set an ambitious goal of full transformation to electric mobility by 2030. A lot of carmakers across segments have been bullish on e-mobility themselves that they are likely to unveil their own offerings going forward.

But Ansari clarified that there is need for more clarity on the government's policy framework surrounding EVs.

Meanwhile, Audi on Wednesday launched the second generation RS 5 Coupe in the country, priced at Rs 1,10,65,000 (ex-showroom).

The Audi RS 5 Coupe was unveiled by Indian Cricket Team Captain Virat Kohli in Bengaluru.
