<p>The Anekal police have arrested two students of Alliance University and are hunting for others who reportedly intercepted a BMTC bus and assaulted its driver and conductor in Anekal on Thursday evening.</p>.<p class="bodytext">The arrested students have been identified as Lalith and Shubhamlal, both of them in the final year of the BBA programme.</p>.<p class="bodytext">According to police, the incident occurred around 3.45 pm on Thursday at the VBHC Apartment bus stop on Chandapura Main Road.</p>.<p class="bodytext">The BMTC bus, attached to depot-3 in Shanthinagar, was going from Anekal to City Market. When the bus reached the VBHC bus stop, a few students riding motorbikes, including Lalith and Shubham Lal, pulled right in front of the bus, blocking its way.</p>.<p class="CrossHead"><strong>Bus brushed against bike</strong></p>.<p class="bodytext">They went on to grab the driver Gururaju and conductor Nagappa and thrashed them, saying the bus had brushed against one of their bikes.</p>.<p class="bodytext">A few auto-rickshaw drivers joined the assault. As a result, the driver and the conductor were beaten mercilessly.</p>.<p class="bodytext">After the scuffle got over and the students left, the driver and conductor informed their seniors and rushed to the Anekal police station to make a complaint.</p>.<p class="CrossHead"><strong>'Wanted to impress girls'</strong></p>.<p class="bodytext">A preliminary inquiry led the police to conclude that the students held a grudge against the bus driver and conductor.</p>.<p class="bodytext">On April 9, Gururaju and Nagappa were irked after students showed legs to stop the bus. There were brief but heated arguments between the students and the driver and conductor. </p>.<p class="bodytext">Thursday's incident could have been a retaliation for the April 9 incident as some female students from the university were also there on the bus and the boys probably wanted to impress them. </p>.<p class="bodytext">The students were produced before a magistrate who remanded in judicial custody.</p>
