The JDS state unit president, known for people-friendly image, said he usually receives calls on his mobile phone from people seeking help.
“About 10 months ago, a girl called me up. Initially she narrated her woes. Later she started hounding me and also hurled abuses, the nature of which I can’t share,” Kumaraswamy, now Lok Sabha member from Bangalore Rural Constituency, told agencies here.
“She used to make calls at 3 AM and even at 4 AM. Now I am scared to receive calls on my mobile, unless I am sure who is the caller,” he said.
Take steps
Kumaraswamy said he had informed Police Commissioner Shankar Bidari six months ago and requested him to take steps to trace her.
“I even sought the help of Intelligence wing. Police said the woman has given a wrong address while securing the mobile phone connection. How can one get a mobile connection without furnishing address proof. I can’t understand,” said Kumaraswamy, son of former prime minister H D Deve Gowda.
Suresh, an assistant of Kumaraswamy, lodged a formal complaint with the police three days ago.
Meanwhile, police said they were investigating the matter.
