TN govt seeks Parvathi Ammal's entry to India

“Our government has written to the Union Home Secretary to consider the case of Parvathi Ammal,” Deputy Chief Minister M K Stalin announced in the state Assembly on Monday.

Parvathi Ammal had sent an email from Malaysia to Chief Minister M Karunanidhi, requesting the state to help her get a visa to travel from Kuala Lumpur to Tiruchirappalli, Stalin said.

Karunanidhi, responding to the issue in the House on April 19, had hinted that the government would write to the Centre if it received a formal request from Parvathi Ammal regarding the visa.

Though Immigration officials at the Chennai International airport had given the explanation that a visa was “mistakenly” given to her, the real fact was that she along with Prabhakaran’s father had been placed in the “black /prior approval category list” by the Centre.

The DMK’s main ally, the Congress here is not keen in  Ammal’s case. They maintain that there is no need for her to come to India for treatment as there are good hospitals in Malaysia.
