LS passes gratuity Bill

Last Updated 03 May 2010, 18:10 IST

The bills were passed without any discussion as the AIADMK members trooped into the well of the House shouting slogans against Communication minister A Raja. The protesting MPs were  holding copies of an English daily which alleged that the CBI probe into spectrum scam was stalled by the government.

Amid slogan-shouting scenes, Health and Family Welfare Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad moved the Clinical Establishments (Registration and Regulation) Bill, 2010, which was also passed by the House.

The gratuity Bill has raised the ceiling of gratuity for employees to Rs 10 lakh from Rs 3.5 lakh. The Payment of Gratuity (Amendment) Bill 2010 was  introduced by Minister of State for Labour Harish Rawat last month.

After passing the bills, Deputy Speaker Karia Munda adjourned the House for the day.
