JOIN USThe deceased were identified as Abhilash (10) and Nitin (12) both from of Govindashettypalya. Abhilash was a Class IV student, while Nitin was in Class VI at Shyam School at Govindashettypalya, said the police.
The incident occurred when they went towards the pit along with their friends to swim. Both of them were not good swimmers. Within minutes after entering the water, they started drowning. Efforts of their friends to save them failed. The friends came out of the pit and informed a few locals who alerted the police. Fire Force personnel came to the spot and retrieved the bodies, added the police.
A case of negligence has been registered against the building owners-Karunakaran and his wife Nalini.
Rowdy arrested
The Banaswadi Police arrested Tirumaran alias Raja under the provisions of the Karnataka Prevention of Dangerous Activities of Bootleggers, Drug Offenders, Gamblers, Goondas, Immoral Traffic Offenders and Slum Grabbers Act, 1985 on Monday. He was arrested as per the instruction of the Bangalore City police commissioner Shankar Bidari. He is wanted for a murder in Ashoknagar in 1996. He is involved in 10 heinous criminal cases, including murders, kidnap and extortion.
