According to press release, the trauma centre has been built specifically to provide for emergency medical services. The new centre will have separate areas for Trauma and TRIAGE (dealing with emergency medical situations according to specified protocol with involvement of several medical teams and the process of prioritising patients based on the severity of their condition).
The new centre will also house a clinical lab and the blood bank apart from a large central Intensive Care Unit (ICU) and fully equipped Operation Theatres to take up Emergency cases. Home Minister Dr V S Acharya, Manipal University Chancellor Dr Ramdas Pai and senior officials will be present on the occasion.
