Arrest Halappa, demands Cong

Speaking on the occasion, Congress leader C H Lokesh said the CM, who is supporting Halappa in this issue, has no right to continue as the CM. Congress District President M L Murthy said that Halappa must be tried and punished in the same manner as a common man.

Party workers staged a protest at Taluk Office premises in Koppa on Tuesday and demanded the arrest of Halappa.

ZP Member H M Sathish, Block Congress President A S Nagesh, Congress leader Meega Srinivas and others addressing the protesters spoke on how many cases in the past have been closed by BJP.

They cited examples of mysterious death of Padmapriya, wife of MLA Raghupathi Bhat and Minister Renukacharya and Nurse Jayalakshmi case which were pushed under the carpet by the BJP Government.  They said that the Halappa case and the response of the CM shows that BJP has no respect for women.
