BJP members from both Houses of Parliament raised slogans against the government, accusing it of using the premier investigating agency as a political tool.

Holding placards saying, ''CBI is Congress Bureau of Investigation", "Emergency is Back", "Phones are tapped, nobody is safe", the leaders assembled in front of the Mahatma Gandhi statue raised slogans demanding that government stop "political misuse of CBI".

Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha Sushma Swaraj said, "This government has for long been misusing the CBI as a political tool. They dangle it as a Damocles' Sword in front of Chief Ministers and former Chief Ministers who have cases against them."

Senior leaders L K Advani, Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha Sushma Swaraj and Leader of Opposition in Rajya Sabha Arun Jaitley, Murli Manohar Joshi, Rajnath Singh, Deputy Leaders of both Houses Gopinath Munde and S S Ahluwalia were among those present.

Jaitley alleged that CBI goes slow or fast against leaders depending on their support to the government.

"The CBI becomes vindictive when the case of an opposition leader comes up. This has been seen in the case of Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mayawati or former Chief Minister Mulayam Singh Yadav or even RJD leader Lalu Prasad. CBI is being used as a bargaining counter," Jaitley said.

Shiv Sena MPs led by Anant Geete and Manohar Joshi, and some SAD MPs also took part in the demonstration.
