Even as the news of the trouble spread, former legislator M Bhaktavatsalam and his associate Ramesh reached the spot and attacked Yerrappa who was holding a discussion, it is alleged. <br /><br />The commissioner started bleeding from the nose and after being given first aid, he was admitted to the Government General hospital.<br />In the melee, the commissioner’s ring, chain, watch and glasses worth an estimated Rs 80,000 went missing.<br /><br />Hundreds of women from N T Blocks who came to the spot demanded the arrest of president Rashid Khan and commissioner Yerrappa. They alleged that these two had attacked Manjula’s husband Rashid Khan.<br />They staged a dharna in front of the Urigaon police station for nearly two hours. They demanded the presence of higher police officers to get them justice.<br />At the same time the CMC workers protesting against the attack on the president and the commissioner immediately started a dharna.<br />They locked up the office and all the employees staged a walkout.President Seenappa and district secretary Shashikumar said that action will be taken after the gram panchayat elections.
