Since Friday, he has been running from pillar to post to meet an official from the Department of Pre-University Education and explain his situation but in vain.

A Science student, Sanjay came to the City after completing his SSLC two years ago. He was staying with a relative, who serves in the Army. However, with his relative being transferred to Jammu and Kashmir recently, Sanjay has nowhere to stay.

“I have been requesting the officials to transfer my centre from Bangalore to Bijapur. My mother passed away and my father is ill. I have to take care of him and be at home. Besides, I don’t have any place to stay here,” said Sanjay. He approached some officials on Saturday but would give him a hearing.

Shafi Ahmed, an official of Sanjay’s College, said the student would have to get endorsement from the new college in Bijapur and from the Government College once the mark sheet arrived. He would then have to pay the exam fee (Rs 60 per subject) and apply for transfer of centre’s location.

“The supplementary exam for PU is at the end of June. If the mark sheet comes in the last week of May, there will not be enough time to send the application and get the department’s permission,” he said.

That would mean Sanjay would have to write the supplementary exam in Bangalore.
