Kottigehara, which records highest rain in the district, is one of the important tourist spots in the region. Hence, the problem of power shortage should be solved immediately, villagers urged. Currently, Mescom authorities supply power to Kottigehara through Chakkodu village, which is 10 kilometers away from the village. Villagers suggest that the Mescom should supply power through Banakal village, which is only 2 kilometers away from Kottigehara, so that the problem of line breakage during rainy season can also be avoided.
“The Mescom authorities did not pay heed to our demand though we have submitted memorandum,” said Venugopal Pai, a villager. A protest will be organised if our demands were not met, they warned.
