KFCC seeks govt help to curb piracy

Last Updated 12 May 2010, 17:07 IST

The State Government has amended the Goonda Act by bringing piracy under its limits. However, the amendment is yet to be ratified by the President.

On Wednesday, KFCC chairman Basanth Kumar Patil said the chamber would constitute a committee to keep a tab on the sale of pirated CDs. The committee would catch hold of those indulging in the illegal trade and hand them over to the police for taking legal action.

Patil said KFCC had appealed to the government to improve basic infrastructure facilities in government-owned Kanteerava studio, so that film fraternity could make better use of the studio. Bringing in a uniform system of renting out film theatres was also among their list of demands. Representatives of the chamber recently submitted a list of their demands to Chief Minister Yeddyurappa.
