An elderly woman was allegedly smothered to death by unidentified persons who made away with her gold jewellery, weighing 83 gram at her house in Srinidhi Layout here on Friday.
Police said the assailants muffled Gowramma (76) with a cloth in her house in which she was living alone, between 3:30 and 4 pm. Shashidhar, Gowramma’s son who lives nearby, has lodged a complaint with the police.
