Sushmita Shivaram
VVS Sardar Patel High School
Marks scored: 608

While it is easy to just study and get good grades, once in a while, you also come across a student who is an all-rounder. Like Sushmita Shivaram. As her mother Rajashree puts it, “Sushmita has always been a topper, since nursery. And I am proud of her.”

Sushmita says, “I did not take any coaching but used to learn what was done in school the same day. I studied for three hours everyday. As exams drew near, I just increased my study time from three to four hours. My teachers are proud of me and it is because of them that I have got these marks.”

Sushmita has also been playing badminton at the State-level. “I go for badminton coaching three to four days a week. I play because it makes my mind free. I’ll keep playing but I
aspire to get into IIT and become an engineer,” she says.

“I’ve got admission in Sardar Patel PU College where I would be doing an integrated IIT course.” What are her other hobbies? “I like reading books a lot,” she adds.

Vivek MD
Sri Vidya Mandir
Marks scored: 616

Vivek M D is a voracious reader and says he has read almost all of Dan Brown’s novels and watched movies that have been inspired by his book, “Reading improves your vocabulary and sharpens your imagination,” says Vivek, who scored 616 in this year’s SSLC exams. He is one among the toppers in the State.

Vivek says that he never drew up a time table to study but made sure he spent
three to four hours everyday studying, “I didn’t do study in the last minute, I was prepared well in advance,” says Vivek.

He switches to computer games whenever he wants to take a break from academics. “Action games improve concentration and give me a good break from academics,” he says.

Vivek says he’d like to do engineering and sit for CAT someday.
