The Government has also made it mandatory for ‘D’ group employees and drivers to wear uniforms on duty. If not, the Government will withdraw the allowance, besides taking disciplinary action against them, the order stated.
The allowance was stopped on August 1, 2008 as per the recommendations of the 5th Pay Commission. The Government was then paying Rs 120 per month as uniform allowance.
