Pilots English knowledge was poor, claims friend

“Though language does not matter when it comes to flying experience, sometimes you need to interact with your co-pilots for smooth flying. here are many foreign pilots, many from Serbia, Panama who cannot communicate in English," he said.

Capt Kallatra said that Indian Civil Aviation is obsessed with foreign pilots, they not only recruit more foreign pilots but also pay them better than the Indian pilots for their experience. “The Indian pilots developed a difference in attitude as they felt that these foreign pilots were encroaching upon their jobs,” said a retired Air Force personnel.

On the Mangalore mishap, a pilot from a private airline felt the intensity of wind plays a vital role during the landing and perhaps that's why the pilot could not land properly.  He also said no specialised training was given to pilots to land on table top runways. "It was very sad what happened," the pilot said.
