Authority assures help to vicitms

Addressing a press meet on Tuesday, District Sessions Judge M K Premalatha said there is a facility to help those who meet with an unexpected death as per 1987 Legal Services Act Section 12 (e).

The Authority will be in charge of providing free legal services. Bar Association teams will visit the families of victims in Kasargod and Hosadurga taluks and will create an awareness on legal services being offered by it, she added. 

The members will help the families in getting legal highership certificate from Tahsildar. The application forms will be distributed to the houses. The Authority will take measures to distribute death certificate from Mangalore City Corporation and hand it over to the families. The copies of FIR and post mortem report will be collected through district SP, she explained.

Counselling will be provided to the family members to overcome the trauma at district medical office. The Authority will also contact insurance companies to early settlement of claims.
