Venkatesh (59) from Nelamangala, has a Vidwat in Sanskrit and Masters degrees in Kannada and Sanskrit. He had served in various capacities, including the Registrar and the Finance Officer in Hampi University. He was also the Chairman of Karnataka Book Authority. The University is likely to start functioning from the present academic year.
Venkatesh said a 10 acre plot has been identified in Hoskote and its main office will continue to be at Chamarajendra Sanskrit college in Chamarajpet. As many as 14 colleges and 230 patashalas will be affiliated to the varsity, he added.
Janapada University
Chief Minister Yeddyurappa, it is learnt, has directed the Higher Education Department to keep the proposal to start Karnataka Janapada University pending, as it needs to be discussed in detail.
However, speculation was rife that the Government has decided to start the University and that Prof H G Boralingaiah is likely to be appointed as its Special Officer.
