BJP workers accuse tahsildar of indulging in irregularities

They alleged that the tahsildar violated rules during the recent Gram Panchayat elections. They complained that she had refused to give acknowledgement for the election-related complaints.

She has not acted on a complaint by a  Boyinahalli GP candidate Ratnamma who had questioned the eligibility of her opponent Shobha. Ratnamma had in her complaint pointed out that Shobha had violated the poll norms by retaining her name in the electoral lists in Ramamurthynagar (Bangalore) and Boyinahalli constituencies. However, the tahsildar has not acted on the complaint, the protesters said.

They also alleged that the tahsildar has prevented them from moving the court by refusing to give acknowledgement. Besides, they pointed out that Bharatish Babu, who owned more than 46 acres of land, was given BCM(B) caste certificate. Though his opponent, Kogarahalli Narayanareddy filed a complaint, no action has been initiated, they alleged.

Rajya Raita Morcha General Secretary M R Shankaranarayana, who led the protest, demanded immediate action against the tahsildar. MLC Shivayogi who was returning from KGF visited the spot and received memorandum from the protesters. He spoke to the assistant commissioner over the phone directing him to look into the issue. He  asked the assistant commissioner to submit a report to the deputy commissioner. The assistant commissioner also visited the spot later.

BJP district unit president Sriram, Lakshmaiah, vice-president Malur Subramani Reddy, Srinivaspur Babu Reddy, leaders Venkatsubbaiah, Ba Na Shivakumar and others were present on the occasion.
