The AIADMK, which had all along been targeting Union Telecommunications Minister, A Raja, on Thursday openly accused Karunanidhi of “colluding with” the DMK’s Union Cabinet nominee in the scam.

The AIADMK State Executive, which met here in the presence of party chief J Jayalalitha, in a key political resolution said the Rs 1 lakh crore losses caused to the country’s exchequer in the allotment of 2G licences was a “Himalayan corruption”.

Citing some rulings against Raja’s decision-making process by the Delhi High Court in the case and various other disclosures that have come out in public domain in the wake of the CBI investigation into the whole affair, such as the alleged “nexus” between Raja, a corporate lobbyist Nira Radia and DMK’s Rajya Sabha MP, Kanimozhi, the AIADMK resolution charged Karunanidhi with trying to scuttle the CBI probe.

“The CBI investigations into this case is sought to be sidetracked now by Karunanidhi adverting to Raja’s Dalit origins,” as a reason for everyone targeting the latter, the AIADMK said. The party again urged the UPA government to drop Raja from the Union Cabinet without further delay.
