Teens typically love change and what works on a particular day can be quickly discarded the next as unsuitable. Versatility being the key word in their styles, it is not surprising to see a combination of multiple styles and hairdos representing teen fashion.

Essentially, hair styles are closely related to clothes fashion not only to match the themes but also to blend in the reigning colours. While the present trend combs in all styles and themes making nothing seem out of place, the accent is more on individual preferences and personality.

Invariably amongst teens, cuts that permit easy maintenance of styles while ensuring maximum flexibility is most popular. Fringes are very much in and they could manifest in many ways starting from appearing sweeping and sexy to short and rounded.

Hair length is likely to see an extension, facilitating multiple choices in hairstyle. While long locks may edge out the bob, teens may increasingly opt for natural hairstyles according to individual taste. Whatever be the choice, the accent will be on making a strong statement.

Many teens continue to prefer the punk look, yet the punk look has undergone a change. It is no more just a straight crop or a shaved head displaying strong coloured tattoos but a more bohemian style reflecting a strong sense of individuality.

While straight crops are very much in, strong colours are blended in as in opting for a bright gold streak in black hair. Rihanna, representing cool bold highlights for black hair will be a hot favourite. Hardcore streaks in electrical colours like blue are very much in vogue. With strong fluorescent colours like yellow and orange being the order of the day
for clothes, these get quickly reflected in the colours used for hair.

While boys may opt for short crops with texture, swanky pony tails can be an option for girls. In short, the style would be very much a blend of the forties and eighties look, displaying the romance of the forties with the technology and flamboyance of the eighties.

Classic styles will also be popular, but it will be so with a twist, a fancy touch to make it appear understated at times and bold at others. In effect, the hairdo will be more purposeful, sans the shabby uncombed look. All styles sported, be it short or long, will essentially be soft and beautiful, wearing an extra shine to display a healthy, well cared for hair.

A note of caution for teens, especially for those who love to experiment with their hair. Opting for chemical and heat treatment, colouring and such others may add to the style quotient but unfortunately, there is also a downside to this. These treatments, especially amongst teens, can weaken hair structure and damage hair follicles.

Damage can also occur because of regular shoddy hair styling and using hair products that are not natural. Smoking and drug abuse can also lead to severe hair fall amongst teens. The solution is to get rid of addictions, opt for a healthy diet and lifestyle and discard harsh hair products that pack in chemicals.

Use a good branded shampoo. There are various types of shampoos available in the market. Choose the one suited best for your hair type. Also use a good conditioner of the same brand.
