Solve drinking water crisis: MLA

The officials in the taluk should give top priority towards attending the drinking water problems in Srinivaspur taluk. The Bescom should ensure that there was no hindrances in the supply of power to facilitate drinking water supply to the people, advised MLA G K Venkatashivareddy.

He was presiding over a meeting of the heads of the various departments at the Mini Vidhana Soudha auditorium in the town on Friday.

He explained that at some places, there was depletion in the groundwater level, thereby reducing the water-level in the borewells. While, at some places, though there was sufficient quantity of water in the borewells, due to erratic power supply, water could not be supplied. These problems should be immediately addressed by the officials concerned, he instructed.

Some of the secretaries of the Gram Panchayats have been suspended in the backdrop of irregularities being reported in the implementation of the projects under the National Employment Guarantee Scheme in the taluk. Atleast henceforth, the officials should ensure that there will not be any irregularities in the future, towards its effective implementation. The permanent projects should be implemented by all those who are concerned with it with utmost dedication and commitment, the MLA appealed.

Meeting on reservations
Tahsildar S Roopashree informed the meeting that henceforth, Janaspandana programme will be held on first Saturday of every month. The Gram Panchayat secretaries should invite all the elected representatives to Sangeetha theatre on July 6, to attend a meeting to finalise reservations for the Gram Panchayat president and vice-president’s posts.
She instructed the officials of the Agriculture and Horticulture Departments to prepare a comprehensive report on the losses incurred in the agriculture produce due to the recent hailstorm and gusting winds which broke out in the taluk.

MLA G K Venkatashiva Reddy handed over a cheque of Rs one lakh towards compensation to Nagarathnamma, wife of Chalapathi, the victim who lost his life due to lightning near Mudivaripalli village, near Rayalpad in Srinivaspur taluk, on the occasion.
Assistant Tahsildar Narayan Vittal, former president of the Zilla Panchayat M Shrinivasan, Zilla Panchayat member G Rajanna and officials of the various departments attended the meeting.
