It has become very difficult for the farm labourers to lead life because of the increase in prices. The working class are forced to starve. The Centre and the State governments are shedding crocodile tears but they are not coming to their rescue, the protesters alleged.
CPI (M) senior leader S Lakshmaiah said the BPL card has not been distributed properly to the farm labourers who are below the poverty line. As a result they are forced to buy food items in the open market.

As they are not able to buy the essential items paying high prices, they have to forego eating food everyday. Their children are going hungry. The elected representatives and the officials are least concerned about this, they remarked.

The BPL card should be distributed to all the farm labourers in the district. The BJP should keep its election manifesto promise of distributing rice at Rs two per kg. All the daily items should be distributed through ration cards. The farm labourers should be given jobs every day. They should be compensated properly for their labour, urged the protesters.
The rising prices should be brought down and poor should be distributed free houses, they demanded.

Labour leaders Mahesh, Lakshman, Ramesh, Subramani, Shivakuar, Madhusudhan, Gangadhar, Muniswamy, Shanker, Saralamma, Velliamma, Kantamma, Naradamma, Atul Bi and others participated.
