Woman's ignorance costs her life

Gangamma (45), of Kanajenahalli in Chikkaballapur was rummaging in a pile of clothes in her house when she suffered a bite from a venomous snake that snuggled in the clothes. Apparently unaware that she had been bitten by a snake, Gangamma continued to work. even as the venom began to take effect. Hours later she was rushed to CSI Hospital in the city as she began feel the deadly effects of the snakebite.

Doctors recommended that she be shifted to a hospital in Bangalore for advanced treatment. Gangamma died while being transported to to Bangalore. Deaths by snakebite due to negligence like these are on rise in the rural areas.
