Alam cleared of charges

Alam, who was accused of murdering a MSC student of the Punjab University, was acquitted by the court saying the prosecution could not provide enough evidence to prove the murder charge. Alam who had a stormy career even as a player denied ever knowing the student. “I am just relieved that the court has accepted my innocence. It is a big relief for me because I didn’t even know the victim,” he told reporters after hearing the judgment. Alam is also a prominent figure in the Punjab Hockey Association and the natioanl federation recently decided to remove him because of his criminal charges.
