<p>Speaking at the Golden Jubilee of Xavier Institute of Management Studies (XIME) founder Prof J Philip’s professional career on Saturday, Hussain said there were certain faultlines with the present generation of graduates and it was essential to correct these faults, for producing a better generation.<br /><br />“We must see how to mix the combination of economics and duty in the present generation of graduates,” he said. He stated that academicians involved in management should not only aspire to produce good managers and businessmen, but also good Indians.<br /><br />Former Union Minister for Labour and Employment, Oscar Fernandes paid rich tributes to Prof J Philip calling him the ‘Dronacharya’ of business management institutes. <br /><br />Prof J Philip has led an illustrious career beginning as a faculty member at Xavier Labour Relations Institute (XLRI), Jamshedpur, and moving on to IIM Bangalore. He has also taken the initiative in founding the Association of Indian Management Schools and is the first president of the newly elected Association of BRICS Business Schools, a group of business schools from Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa.<br /><br />Expressing his gratitude for the felicitation, Prof Philip said he had worked with some outstanding men during his career and was lucky to be supported when he struggled to bring in order and professionalism. He also called upon institutions to build culture into their curriculum. “Culture building is the crucial part of institution building. Many Indian institutions, particularly education institutions, have suffered on this account and continue to suffer,” he added.<br /></p>
