'Plans on to develop industrial area in Udupi'

Speaking on the occasion, Udupi MLA Raghupathy Bhat informed that talks are being held to chalk out plans to find an industrial area in Udupi district to support entrepreneurship at larger scale. Uppur, Havanje, Karje and Kunjalu are the areas proposed for the project. The entire plan will come up in 90 to 100 acres land.

The unemployment allowance can soothe the jobless only for short period.

Educated youths are in search of white collar jobs deserting their ancestral occupation.
 The number of jobless is increasing in large number.

Migration

Rural educated folks are migrating to the urban areas. Hence, there is huge fall among rural youths who are involved in agriculture and other traditional works thereby disturbing the financial business of the district, he lamented.

Large scale industries like automobile industries ought to be encouraged in the district besides measures should be taken to check the pollution.

Small Scale Industries Association should be formed to support the small scale industrialists, he opined. Speaking after inaugurating the programme, Zilla Panchayath Agriculture and Industrial Standing Committee Chairman Janardhan Thonse called upon the youths to take up their ancestral occupation.

Member of Legislative Council Kota Srinivas Poojary, Zilla Panchayat in-charge President Babu N B, Taluk Panchayat Executive Officer Ramanand Nayak, Taluk Panchayath President Sathish Poojary, Industrial Extension Officer S H Mahadevappa, Industrial Division Zilla Panchayat Deputy Director G Devaraj and others were present on the occasion.
