National Geographic presents Perilous Journeys — Cracking The Ice Road on July 10 at 10 pm.

But to residents here, the brutal cold is a blessing. It transforms rivers and lakes into frozen highways, linking remote villages to the outside world. But driving on ice is not without danger.

In this episode of Perilous Journeys, Marsh Mokhtari travels on one ice road to the northernmost village on the Canadian mainland. The stakes are high so Marsh must combine his modern technology with survival techniques that he learns from indigenous people along the way.
