The day-long meeting of the chief ministers  would  work  out a fresh strategy to affectively combat and check the fast spread of Naxals  in the country. Union Home Minister P Chidambaram, too, will meet the chief ministers.

Chief ministers of Orissa, Chhattisgarh, West Bengal, Maharashtra, Andhra Pradesh and Bihar will discuss better coordination with the Centre on security and development issues, according to sources.

Jharkahnd, under president’s rule, will be represented by its governor.
The development model formulated by the planning commission will also come up for discussion.

The meeting comes in the backdrop of  a series of  Naxal attacks in Chhattisgarh, Orissa, Jharkhand and West Bengal.

The Maoists have killed over 100 policemen in Chhattisgarh since April and derailed an express train in West Bengal that claimed the lives of nearly 150 people.
