Amid the undeclared curfew over old Srinagar and Sopore town and the general strike in rest of Kashmir, Martyrs Day passed off peacefully on Tuesday in the state. The government and separatists in Kashmir observe Martyrs Day on July 13 each year in memory of those killed in firing by the forces of an autocratic Dogra ruler in 1931.
