The plea submitted to the CM through Deputy Commisioner, the Association has stated that auto drivers have resorted to use kerosene, available at cheaper rates, instead of petrol, thus contributing for increase in the air pollution.
Biofuel plants are not functional except at Bangalore, Mysore and few district centres in the State. There are, on an average 25,000 autos in each district and adulterating the petrol has been causing air pollution apart from damaging the vehicle as well.
Granting permission for use of biofuel would go a long way in containing the adulteration. Steps should bne taken to open biofuel stations at all the district centres, the memorandum said.
