Two held for bomb attack on UP minister

The police claimed that a “supari” (contract) was given by a Samajwadi Party leader to kill the minister, who was seriously injured when the bomb exploded near his house in Allahabad on Monday.

Police officials here said the two persons held were Rajesh Yadav and Kripa Shankar Pandey. Rajesh, a hardcore criminal, was given the “supari” to kill the minister.

State Additional Director General of Police, law and order, Brijlal said Dileep Mishra, who is said to be a close relative of SP MLA Vijai Mishra, had hatched the conspiracy to kill Nandy.
Dileep Mishra, who had a personal rivalry with the minister, is currently lodged in a jail in connection with another crime. Police sources claimed that the SP MLA could also be involved in the conspiracy.

“It was a well planned attack and seven persons were involved in it,” the police said claiming that the two arrested persons have confessed to planting the bomb in a bike near Nandy’s house.

One person was killed and three others, including the minister, were injured in the explosion.

Like Nandy, Mishra also deals in government contracts and real estate, the police said.
According to the sources, a remote control device was used to trigger the blast.

The bomb was was kept in the bike, which was parked very close to the minister’s house.
While the condition of the minister was improving, two others, who sustained injuries in the attack were serious.
