"I discussed with the Prime Minister how illegal mining is taking place in Karnataka," the former Prime Minister told reporters after the meeting.

JD(S) leader Danish Ali said the party chief also discussed the law and order situation in the state. "The Prime Minister's response was positive," Ali said.

The Reddy brothers and their alleged involvement in illegal mining have been a major cause of concern for the state BJP ever since it came to power.
