'Bridge gap between curriculum and corporate world'

Prof R P Kaushik, Former Professor, JNU, New Delhi and Former Ambassador to Turkmenistan; Prof B K Chandrashekar, Former Education Minister and Former Chairman, Karnataka Legislative Council; Ponmudiraj, Assistant Adviser, NAAC and Prof Susheela Kaushik, Co-chair, National Consultative Committee, UGC were the dignitaries.

The college principal Dr Joyce Sunder said, “The responsibility of the educational system goes beyond merely classroom delivery and should extend to meet the needs of technological development and globalization. There is an urgent need to bridge the gap between the curriculum and the corporate world through quality education.

Prof Kaushik said, “Due weightage should be give to contextual reality of criteria and emphasised on the criteria which is essential for assessment and accreditation.” He also said ‘Institution should be the platform to shape the scholarship of the students’.

B K Chandrashekar said, “Institution should produce graduates, who should be globally competitive. Eighty-nine per cent terminate their education after graduation, 10% at post graduate level, and 0.8% at Ph.d level.” Ponmudi observed that curriculum is beyond the syllabus. Academic flexibility horizontal mobility and vertical mobility are the criteria for the assessment of the college. He called upon to conceptualise the feed back on the curriculum from the students.

About 25 participants from various colleges, universities of Karnataka are participating in the workshop.
