<p>Amit Jethwa was shot dead Tuesday night.<br /><br />In a statement to police which was released to media, Jethwa, who is a journalist with Gujarati daily Phulchhab, alleged that he and his son had been regularly receiving threats from the MP, who represents Junagadh constituency, and his nephew.<br /><br />"Only yesterday my son had filed a public interest litigation (PIL) in the Gujarat High Court against the illegal limestone mining going on unhindered within and around the lion sanctuary at Sasan Gir," he said. <br /><br />Jethwa said that his son had been spearheading a campaign against the illegal activities of Solanki.<br /><br />He had also sought information under the RTI from the Junagadh district police about 30 to 35 murders that had taken place in the area in the last seven years.<br /><br />"In January 2009, Solanki had personally come to the office of Amit in Khambha village and threatened him," he added.<br /><br />Jethwa demanded a criminal investigation department (CID) probe into the murder of his son.<br /><br />"If I am not satisfied with the investigations, I will seek the intervention of the high court for a CBI (Central Bureau of Investigation) investigation into the murder," he added.</p>
