Chavan was to visit Puttaparthi in Andhra Pradesh to seek the blessing of Sathya Sai Baba had to cancel his trip after the TDP activists warned that they would block him on the way.
Chavan and his wife Amita performed the puja in the wee hours of the morning as lakhs of devotees gathered in the temple town. Chavan is an ardent follower of Sathya Sai Baba and visits Puttaparthi regularly. However, the recent political stand off caused by the arrest of TDP chief Chandrababu Naiduover the Babhli irrigation project in Nanded district forced Chavan to cancel his programme in AP.
