Grand welcome for Siddaramaiah

A huge procession carrying Siddaramaiah in an open vehicle started from Kalasthawadi village on Bangalore-Mysore Highway, and culminated at the City Congress Office on Sayyaji Rao Road.

A host of leaders and party workers who had gathered on either sides of the highway accompanied their leader up to the party office.

As soon as Siddaramaiah arrived at the Tollgate, the party workers put traditional ‘Mysore Peta’ and garlanded him.  The procession passed Tippu Circle, Fountain Circle, SBM Circle, Ashoka Road,Town Hall, K R Circle and culminated at District Congress Office on Sayyaji Rao. A number of cultural troupes of dollu kunitha, tibetan dance and others accompanied the procession. Mild showers did not deter the spirit of the party workers.
A host of leaders like District and City Congress Committee leaders C Dasegowda, Mayor Purushottam, former Zilla Panchayat president K Marigowda, former mayors Narayan,  D Dhruvakumar, Ananthu, Maniraju, H A Venkatesh, former MLA Somashekhar, L Dharmasena  and other leaders were present at the tollgate to receive their leader.

Arrives late

As per the schedule, Siddaramaiah was supposed to reach the tollgate at 11 am but he only arrived at 2:30 pm. In spite of this, the party workers waited patiently since it was the first visit of Siddaramaiah to the City, after being elected as the opposition leader.

Traffic affected

The traffic on Mysore-Bangalore Highway was thrown out of gear for more than three hours as the procession passed at snail pace. Police had a tough time in streamlining the traffic on highway.

An elaborate security arrangement had been made by the city police.
