The trio had kidnapped Imran (17) from 80 feet road, 4th Block in Koramangala on December 25, 2006. They kept him at a house in Madivala and proceeded towards Tumkur. They called up Imran’s father Sher Ali and demanded Rs 25 lakh ransom to release him. They went to Kolar from Tumkur and directed Ali to meet them in Kolar with the money.
Meanwhile, the then DCP (South East) Soumendhu Mukherjee constituted a special team to nab the kidnappers. The team exchanged fire in Kolar and arrested the trio. The Koramangala police inspector Purushottam and all the three kidnappers sustained injuries in the incident.
