But director/writer Abhishek Sharma of the hit Tere Bin Laden would have it no other way.

Amused by the reactions of the audience to his recently-released film, says Pradhuman, “Folks that’s me.”  Walkwater’s Tere Bin Laden is a tongue-in-cheek comedy about an ambitious young news reporter from Pakistan who comes across an Osama Bin Laden look-alike. A scheme is hatched to produce a fake Osama video and sell it to news channels as a breakthrough scoop. Unfortunately there are serious
ramifications as the White House gets involved and dispatches a zealous secret agent on Osama’s trail.

The actor, who received rave reviews for his performance as the Fake Osama Bin Laden, goes unrecognised even today thanks to the hard work of Vikram Gaikwad and Rajesh Sharma, the make-up artists of the film.

Says Pradhuman, “I had done theatre with Abhishek Sharma. He had this fuzzy image of me and thought I resembled Osama. Though Abhishek had moved to Mumbai, he managed to locate me. He began with a show reel of Osama and said, ‘This is how I want you to act in the film’. I was taken aback! A look test followed and the resemblance was uncanny. Initially, I did have apprehensions about doing the role and if there would be any backlashes. But it was just for a movie.”

News of him playing the controversial role was kept under wraps even from his family and friends who were told only once the promos of the film hit screens.

Confirms Pradhuman, “It was only when the promos were out did I tell my family. They were shocked but could not believe that I could have pulled off playing the most wanted man on earth. Now I have to show my real face to the industry.”

‘I would like to do item numbers’

Television actress Sayantani Ghosh says she is ready for a transition from the ideal bahu of small-screen to the item girl of Bollywood. “I would like to do item numbers in movies but only under good banners. I don’t mind looking sexy and sensuous for item numbers just like Malaika Arora Khan. Dancing is my passion and I have learnt classical dance too. I wanted to study dance further but couldn’t,” Sayantani said.

The actress, popularly known as Kakul (of Ghar Ek Sapna fame), was last seen in a lead role on Zee TV’s show Naagin and dance reality show Ek Se Badh Kar Ek. “I want to go abroad and learn more dance forms and dance like the performers of So You Think You Can Dance. I really like the show, people are amazing there," said the 26-year old actress, who is presently starring in newly launched serial Rakt Sambandh, being aired on Imagine.

The show is about the bond between a father and his five daughters. And Sayantani is playing one of the daughters, who is a software engineer and is married in an urban middle class family. “Rakt Sambandh is similar to Desperate Housewives in the form of its execution. All five stories about the sisters run parallel unlike its done in other shows,” she said.

Talking about her character, Sayantani explained how different her character was from the other four female leads. “My character Sakshi is not a sari-clad bahu. Sakshi is easy to relate to since there is nothing dramatic about her. She is like the way women are in real life. This character was the most accepted character in the South version of the show.”

While on one hand, the actress claimed that her new show has a different plot from other sister sagas running on various channels, Sayantani also defended the producers for providing the same dish in different platters. “TV has certain limitations. Producers would love to experiment but they can’t do so, since the audience wants certain kind of shows. The moment the writer does something different, the show starts getting a drop in TRPs,” the actress said.

A love for dance

Few know that Bollywood’s leading lady Katrina Kaif loves to dance and is always keen on learning new styles of dance. Says Katrina, “I enjoy dancing.” Though her last two releases — Ajab Prem Ki Ghazab Kahani and Rajneeti didn’t see her in out and out dance numbers, she is ready to get back to her passion in director/choreographer Farah Khan’s Tees Maar Khan.

Katrina will be seen shaking a leg and hip to a foot-tapping number in the film. Sources say that the number has been specially choreographed for her by Farah. Reveals a source, “In the song called Sheela Ki Jawani, you will see Katrina Kaif belly dancing under the training of a Brazilian expert. Since she is so passionate about dancing, Farah has decided to show the audiences what a good dancer she really is.”
