JOIN USKnown as the "back benchers" in the Council, as many as six first time corporators from the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)-- Katta Jagadish, Gopi, Umesh Shetty, Anand, Krishnappa and Padmaraj--have been drawing the opposition ire for their allegedly "unwarranted" comments.
The Opposition party and those in the gallery have noticed that they keep passing comments when the Council is discussing issues. In Thursday's sitting, the "back benchers" commented "Sanjana!" and "Ninna time sarigilla guru (It is not your time)." These comments came from the six when Munirathna from Yeshwanthpur ward rose to speak.
Munirathna has been indicted by the Lokayukta for the sub-standard work of the compound wall of the Veterinary College, which collapsed in June and claimed the life of 17-year-old college studnet Sanjana Singh.
Taking serious note of these "unwarranted" comments, leader of the opposition M Nagaraj has now decided to write a letter to the Mayor.
