Man spends four days in flat with dead parents

The bodies of N Rajan (80) and his wife Chandra (70) were found in their first floor residence in Nandanvan building this afternoon, police said.
Police were alerted by neighbours who complained about a foul smell emanating from the deceased's flat.

"When we went to the house the couple's son Sujit opened the door. The police found the bodies of his parents lying in the hall of the single bedroom flat," Deputy Police Commissioner Sharada Raut told PTI.

"It appears the corpses were lying in the house for at least for four days," she said.
Additional Police Commissioner Ramrao Pawar said the "mentally unsound" Sujit carried on with his routine life despite the bodies lying in the flat and emanating foul smell.
"According to neighbours, Sujit was seen going out sometimes to bring milk and other stuff in the past four days," he said.

When quizzed, Sujit could not answer a single question about the incident, Pawar added.
The bodies were sent for post-mortem that will reveal the cause of the senior citizens' death, he said, adding a case of accidental death was registered.
